We not stretch and frame our oil paintings due to several reasons:
Painting reproduction is a high quality expensive product, which we cannot risk to damage by sending it being stretched.
Also, there are postal restrictions, regarding the size of the shipment.
Additionally, due to the dimensions of the stretched canvas, the shipment price may exceed the price of the product itself.

You can stretch and frame your painting in your local frame-shop.

Once the painting The Skiff (La Yole) is ready and dry, it will be shipped to your delivery address. The canvas will be rolled-up in a secure postal tube.

We offer free shipping as well as paid express transportation services.

After adding your artwork to the shopping cart, you will be able to check the delivery price using the Estimate Shipping and Tax tool.

Over 20 Years Experience
Only Museum Quality

The paintings we create are only of museum quality. Our academy graduated artists will never allow a compromise in the quality and detail of the ordered painting. TOPofART do not work, and will never allow ourselves to work with low quality studios from the Far East. We are based in Europe, and quality is our highest priority.

In "The Skiff (La Yole)" by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, painted in 1875, the scene is a tranquil yet vivid portrayal of a leisurely boat ride on the Seine. Here, we are not simply gazing at the river - Renoir makes us feel the shimmering of the light as it plays across the surface, mixing and dancing, especially on the water, a dazzling choreography of brushstrokes. The skiff itself, a vibrant yellow-orange, cuts through the cool blues of the river, a striking contrast that gives the scene its energy.

Renoir’s color choices seem almost playful yet calculated. He avoids black entirely, and there’s no attempt to dull the palette with traditional earth tones. Instead, he reaches for newly available pigments and leans into them. The result is a palette where bright hues sing next to one another - particularly the blue of the water and the orange of the boat. The complementary relationship between these colors amplifies their intensity, pulling the viewer into the composition, like Chevreul’s theories of color come to life.

The technique is distinctly Impressionist, with feathery, loose brushstrokes that lend an immediacy to the scene. The water is rendered as a shimmering mosaic of colors, each stroke layered to convey the movement and reflection of light. The figures in the boat, one rowing, the other sitting calmly, are almost secondary to this visual play, but their positioning is key to the structure. The woman in the center, framed by the diagonal line of the oar, anchors the composition.

Despite the lighthearted atmosphere, there’s a sophisticated balance at work. Horizontals, like the boat and the riverbank, are balanced against small verticals and diagonals - the sailboat, the reeds in the lower left, the distant bridge. The whole canvas is alive, vibrating with the tension between solid forms and flickering light, all within the confines of a lazy summer’s day.
