TOPofART wants to remind you to keep patient, in order to get you the highest quality, being our mission to fulfill your expectations.

We not stretch and frame our oil paintings due to several reasons:
Painting reproduction is a high quality expensive product, which we cannot risk to damage by sending it being stretched.
Also, there are postal restrictions, regarding the size of the shipment.
Additionally, due to the dimensions of the stretched canvas, the shipment price may exceed the price of the product itself.

You can stretch and frame your painting in your local frame-shop.

Once the painting The Mouth of the Bidasoa River is ready and dry, it will be shipped to your delivery address. The canvas will be rolled-up in a secure postal tube.

"The Mouth of the Bidasoa River", 1872 by Martín Rico y Ortega. What we have here is not just a landscape - it's a symphony of light, sky, and sea all mingling in a meticulously orchestrated dance. You can practically hear the hum of the breeze and the chatter of distant voices. It’s a calm, yet bustling coastal scene, where boats - almost lazily anchored - rest on the shoreline. Some are tucked close together, sails lazily rolled, while others stretch further out, breaking the horizon. The scattered figures of beachgoers linger in clusters, giving a subtle human presence without overtaking the serene backdrop.

The colors are soft, yet rich, creating a balance between sky, sea, and sand. The sky dominates, its vast expanse packed with billowing clouds that seem to stretch endlessly. There's an almost tactile quality to these clouds - thick, layered, their shadows cast delicately over the water. Blues and soft greys intertwine with bursts of white, adding both weight and airiness to the composition. The sea itself is calm, almost a pale turquoise near the shore, darkening as it stretches into the distance, but never losing that mirror-like reflectiveness of a lazy afternoon.

Rico’s technique? Oh, it’s precise without being stiff. His brushstrokes in the sky have a looseness, a kind of freewheeling energy, but when it comes to the boats and the figures, there’s detail and care. The composition is smart, with the boats lining up like a natural break between the restless sky and the calm water, with just enough room for the playful activity of the beach in the foreground. It’s as if Rico has captured a fleeting moment of tranquility, a day that could go on forever, but like the tide, you know it’s bound to change.
